In the fifth grade, you can work on the Great American Challenge during the school year, and if you finish all the requirements, you get an award at the end of the year.
Marg decided to do it.
It's not easy.
These are the requirements:
Write down the Pledge of Allegiance with proper spelling and punctuation.
Memorize and recite the Preamble to the Constitution.
Say (or sing) the National Anthem with the correct words.
Memorize and name all 40+ Presidents in order starting with George Washington.
Label and correctly spell all 50 states on a U. S. Map.
Memorize and recite to the class the Gettysburg Address.
In case you didn't know, the Gettysburg Address isn't short! :)

My hears swells with joy for this girl and her sister who helped her! They truly love each other. I feel such gratitude for a good wife (mother to our children) who teaches them such good principles as hard work, achievement, sacrifice, and love. You are wonderful Edee! I am also so proud of Margaret!
This sounds like something Madeleine would do. I think our two reader girls would have so much fun together. Wish we lived closer!
